This is the city's third most important art gallery, and its crown jewel is the magnificent "David." But this sculpture isn't the only reason to visit the museum! Explore the collection with me, and you'll discover the lives of geniuses and the beauty of their works, learn about the significance of the exhibits for the Florentines, trace the impact of the Church Schism on painting, and truly admire art. A Repository of the Ideal Male Body The Accademia Gallery was originally founded as an Academy of Fine Arts for art students. Almost all of Florence's art schools later operated under its auspices. But after Michelangelo's original "David" statue was moved there, the gallery became one of Florence's most visited museums. I'll be devoting considerable attention to the "David" statue so that you can learn and understand why this famous statue is a shining example of Renaissance sculpture and its significance for the Florentine people. In addition to the "David," the gallery will feature five other original works by Michelangelo, including his unfinished "Slaves" for the funeral monument of Pope Julius II. The master labored on this monument for nearly 45 years! You'll learn more about Michelangelo's technique, his worldview, and his life and creative path. Echoes of the Beauty of Past Centuries You'll see Tuscan paintings from the 13th and 14th centuries and discover the meaning of the symbolism in iconography, so generously used by then-unknown masters. Enjoy the beautiful color palette of works by Domenico Ghirlandaio, Pietro Perugino, Filippino Lippi, Alessandro Botticelli, Paolo Uccello, Alessandro Allori, and others. See a collection of unique musical instruments, including a violin, viola, and cello by Antonio Stradivari, harpsichords with ivory and ebony keys, and the oldest surviving upright piano by Bartolomeo Cristofori! Organizational details: Additional costs: entrance tickets and headphones (for groups of more than 4 people, the cost is €2 per person); Gallery tickets must be booked at least two days in advance on the museum's official website www.uffizi.it or www.firenzemusei.it, or by emailing me; Ticket price: €16 (plus €4 for advance booking); · Children and young people under 18 can enter the gallery free of charge, but a €4 advance reservation fee is required when purchasing a ticket.
